Protect Cape York
We are proud supporters and partnered with Protect Cape York. Alongside other committee members, we are involved in the day to day running of this project. We become involved in this great project to clean up Cape York after our visit there a few years ago. Like many other people, were appalled by the amount of rubbish left behind by other visitors (this certainly is not restricted to the Cape region, this is an ongoing issue all across Australia). Protect Cape York was born after a great lady by the name of Leah decided to step up and do something! Protect Cape York aims to educate visitors to the area on the importance of taking your rubbish with you. People live in the Cape York region, this is their home, we need to respect them and the environment and hopefully we can educate people on the importance of this. We need to protect our country so that it will be available for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
Royal flying doctor service
With the type of outback travel that we do, you really appreciate what an amazing service the RFDS provide to people in the bush, and have been doing so since 1928.
While we hope that we will never, ever need to use their services, we will donate and promote their cause as much as possible.
Staffy Rescue is committed to rehoming Staffordshire bull terriers and large breed dogs. Staffy Rescue, located in western Sydney, is a registered animal welfare charity who rescues dogs from death row at pounds across NSW and rehabilitates them before rehoming them with their perfect forever family. Being staffy owners ourselves and knowing what loving, and often misunderstood, dogs they are, this cause is very close to our heart.
Hawkesbury's Helping hands
Hawkesbury's Helping Hands is a registered not-for-profit charity that helps to feed, clothe and support the homeless and less fortunate.
The Hawkesbury (on the outskirts of Sydney) covers a very large area and unfortunately is home to many homeless people, from babies, the elderly, singles and families. Hot meals are supplied to the homeless, as well as blankets, sleeping bags, toiletries, whatever is needed ….. no one is ever turned away. We regularly make donations of various items to this worthy charity. If you can help by donating money or time, they would greatly appreciate it.
The Shitbox Rally is a yearly fundraising event to raise money for cancer research. In this rally, cars worth $1,000 are driven across Australia via some pretty tough roads, all in the name of charity. We've had a few friends take part over the years. In 2015 we supported our mates in 'team Dodgy Brothers' as they travelled over 6500km from Canberra to Townsville, via the Birdsville Track, in 7 days ..... in a 2WD Holden Commodore wagon!
